Automotive camshaft/bearing sleeves are used in:

Camshaft: It is a component in a piston engine. Its function is to control the opening and closing of the valve.
Bearing sleeve: to protect the drive shaft. For some drive shafts that are difficult to repair, disassemble or have high value, in order to protect the drive shaft from wear, the shaft sleeve will be installed on the outside of the shaft during the design process, and then the bearing will be installed on the shaft sleeve, which is convenient Installation and maintenance.
Working principle of automobile camshaft/bearing sleeve:

    The main body of the camshaft is a cylindrical rod with approximately the same length as the cylinder group. There are several cams on it, which are used to drive the valve. The camshaft is supported in the camshaft bearing hole through the camshaft journal, so the number of camshaft journals is an important factor affecting the stiffness of the camshaft support. If the camshaft has insufficient rigidity, it will bend and deform during operation, which will affect the timing of the gas distribution.
    The side of the cam is egg-shaped. The purpose of its design is to ensure adequate intake and exhaust of the cylinder. In addition, taking into account the durability of the engine and the smoothness of operation, the valve should not have too much impact due to the acceleration and deceleration process in the opening and closing action, otherwise it will cause severe valve wear, increased noise or other serious consequences. Therefore, the cam is directly related to the engine‘s power, torque output, and smoothness of operation. The common transmission modes between the camshaft and the crankshaft include gear transmission, chain transmission and toothed belt transmission. The transmission between the lower camshaft and the middle camshaft and the crankshaft is mostly driven by cylindrical timing gears. Generally, only a pair of gears is required from the crankshaft to the camshaft. If the diameter of the transmission gear is too large, an additional intermediate can be added Idler. In order to mesh smoothly and reduce working noise, most timing gears use helical gears.
    Chain transmission is common between overhead camshaft and crankshaft, but its working reliability and durability are not as good as gear transmission. Toothed belts are widely used instead of transmission chains on high-speed engines, but chain transmission is still used on some high-power engines. Toothed tape has the characteristics of low working noise, reliable working and low cost. For dual overhead camshafts, the exhaust camshaft is generally driven by the crankshaft through a timing belt or chain, and the intake camshaft is driven by the exhaust camshaft through a metal chain, or both the intake camshaft and the exhaust camshaft are driven by the crankshaft. Driven by the crankshaft through toothed tape or chain.
